What affects the scope
Every tile job is different, and the independent installer who does the work sets their own price. These are the things they will usually need to know before they can estimate:
- The square footage and the layout direction the room calls for
- How flat the subfloor is, which matters more for long planks than for square tile
- The plank length, since longer planks are less forgiving of an uneven floor
- Whether the pattern is a running offset, a herringbone, or a chevron
- Whether the existing floor comes out first
- The number of doorways and transitions in the run

How much does wood-look tile cost in Taylorsville?

Is wood-look tile better than luxury vinyl plank?
They solve different problems. Porcelain is harder, more heat and scratch resistant, and genuinely waterproof rather than water resistant. Vinyl plank is softer and warmer underfoot, quieter, and usually the faster install. Neither is simply better, and the right answer depends on the room.
Why can plank tile not be laid in a half offset?
Because plank tile is usually slightly crowned along its length, so a joint at the middle of the neighboring plank meets it at its highest point and creates lippage. A smaller offset, often around a third or less, keeps the joints closer to flat. Manufacturers generally specify this.
Does wood-look tile work over a basement slab?
It is one of the most common places it goes, because a slab does not flex and the room is often the one where real wood is a poor idea. The slab still has to be flat and sound, and long planks are less forgiving of dips than small tile is.
