Can tile go over an existing fiberglass surround?
Tiling directly over fiberglass is not the way it is normally done, because the surround is not a sound substrate and the assembly behind it is not waterproofed for tile. The usual approach is to take the surround out and build the wall back with backer board and a waterproofing system. An installer confirms that on site.
